Hi, we’re two dads building PaperStork
We’re two dads, neighbors, and friends in Berlin. We’ve known each other for over ten years. We both work in tech, and — the part that matters here — we both have small children and partners who aren’t German.
How this started
When our kids were born, we ran head-first into German bureaucracy. Elterngeld, Kindergeld, Kita applications, birth registrations — forms in dense legal German, scattered deadlines, conflicting information from every Amt.
We’re native Germans, and it was still overwhelming during those sleep-deprived first months when your world has just turned upside down.
Then we watched our expat friends go through the same thing — except in a different language, in a completely unfamiliar system. We kept thinking: someone should really build something for this.
So we did
PaperStork guides you through German parental bureaucracy step by step. Personalized timeline, deadline reminders, plain-language explanations, and help filling out each form.
Everything stays on your phone. No accounts, no cloud, no tracking.
Built with AI, transparently
PaperStork is an AI-powered tool, and it was largely built with AI too. It’s an experiment — can two dads with day jobs build something genuinely useful, almost entirely with AI?
This is a side project, not a big team. Just the two of us, some clever technology, and a real problem we wanted to solve.
Say hi
We’d love to hear from you — feedback, questions, or your own bureaucracy horror story.
