Hi, we’re two dads building PaperStork

We’re two dads, neighbors, and friends in Berlin. We’ve known each other for over ten years. We both work in tech, and — the part that matters here — we both have small children and partners who aren’t German.

How this started

When our kids were born, we ran head-first into German bureaucracy. Elterngeld, Kindergeld, Kita applications, birth registrations — forms in dense legal German, scattered deadlines, conflicting information from every Amt.

We’re native Germans, and it was still overwhelming during those sleep-deprived first months when your world has just turned upside down.

Then we watched our expat friends go through the same thing — except in a different language, in a completely unfamiliar system. We kept thinking: someone should really build something for this.

So we did

PaperStork guides you through German parental bureaucracy step by step. Personalized timeline, deadline reminders, plain-language explanations, and help filling out each form.

Everything stays on your phone. No accounts, no cloud, no tracking.

Built with AI, checked by humans

PaperStork is an AI-powered tool, and AI helps us build it. But every guide and every benefit explanation is written and edited by us, and checked against official German government sources before it goes live. AI drafts and accelerates — we decide what ships.

This is a side project, not a big team — just two dads in Berlin who went through this bureaucracy ourselves and wanted to make it survivable for other international families.

Say hi

We’d love to hear from you — feedback, questions, or your own bureaucracy horror story.
