What it really is: A tool built by parents who went through German family bureaucracy firsthand and wanted to make it navigable for others. AI helps us build and draft; the guidance is human-written, human-edited, and checked against official German government sources.
Started: 2026, Berlin — out of doing the Standesamt, Elterngeldstelle and KiTa-Gutschein paperwork while running a startup, and watching expat friends struggle through the same in a foreign language.

Stephan is a Berlin-based founder who went through the Standesamt, Elterngeldstelle and KiTa-Gutschein paperwork for his own family, then wrote PaperStork's guides so other international parents don't have to decode it alone. He writes and edits every guide and checks it against official German government sources, and also runs the AI startup booma.ai. He is not a lawyer, tax advisor or doctor — the guides are first-hand, plain-language orientation, not professional advice.
